Every year the boys do some sort of watercolor painting to make a pretty list for Santa. This year Gavin, feeling inspired by the inside of a persimmon, decided that doing some stamping was the painting method for this year's list beautification.
Supplies used:
~Painting boards to provide a smooth clean and portable, paint-safe surface. Our paining boards were purchased here but they are also available many other places including here.
~Stockmar watercolor paints; Lemon Yellow, Golden Yellow and Vermillion Red; found here.
~We use this heavy weight watercolor paper, which we soak in water prior to painting.
~For more about Wet-on-Wet watercolor painting this is a great video demonstration, and I have found this to be a helpful book.
I am always captivated by the uniqueness that each artist brings to their work, given the same time, place and materials. I also recognised, in myself, a preconceived notion of how these paintings would turn out and seeing that, I was able to curb my own urge to guide this paining session, and simply watch and wonder at the uniqueness being created.
Mama, do your own painting, this is theirs!
Ah, now let the dreaming and listing begin......
