It is interesting how associations are made. Two very unrelated things can occur together, simply out of happenstance, and forever the association of the two are tied. Today I passed by a little collection of items waiting for a hand-washing, resting on my dresser. On the top of the pile lay this skirt, intentionally frayed edges and a few remaining signs of a sweet summer day in Washington. I was transported. I could feel the gentle breeze, hear my boys laughter, and happy hollers, as their faces grew more berry-stained by the moment, I could even see the sunlight dancing on the water of the Puget Sound. My heart felt that lightness of summer - in a laundry pile!

This skirt is one of my all time favorites, the
Barcelona Layered Skirt by Amy Butler. I used a heavier weight linen in hopes that the exposed edges of each layer would fray, as they have. With each washing this sweet little addition to my wardrobe gets just a wee bit better. Add some blackberry bramble and summertime memories and I'm a happy little lady!
